Variables
Three-toed Woodpecker
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with more than 19%
subalpine fir - lodgepole pine montane conifer. Where less subalpine
fir - lodgepole pine montane conifer, it occurred mostly in hexagons
with varied terrain or with July precipitation (hex. med.) of 18-49 C.
Where no subalpine fir - lodgepole pine montane conifer, it occurred
mostly in hexagons with more than 14% mixed conifer forest
(Northeast Oregon) or with some lodgepole pine forest. The logistic
regression analysis showed positive or negative association with
lodgepole pine forest, subalpine fir - lodgepole pine montane conifer,
elevation (hex. avg.), July minimum temperature (hex. min.), and-to
a lesser degree-topographic variation, the extent of public land, and
April maximum temperature (hex. avg.).
